While the ground outdoors is brown and still frozen indoor greenhouses around the city are greening up for a spring break through. After 19 years as DeGroot's Nursery grower Jackie Robinson still gets excited heading into spring. She said working in the greenhouse, even when temperatures are freezing outdoors with snow blowing feels like spring. "It's a great place to be," she said. Preparing for an April 1 start-up in the showroom is a busy time. She will plant upwards of 500,000 veggie seeds by hand which equates to 110,000 plants for sale. A majority of vegetable plants are single seeded which equates to an enormous amount of time and effort. Pansey seeds were started in December and will be ready for April 1 too.
