Gay and I have been gardening all of our lives. We were both lucky enough to have parents that passed on their green thumbs to us. Our gardens have been a work in progress for the last 25 years and will continue to evolve for the rest of our lives. Blessed with both full shade and full sun they contain a wide variety of plants. I think the shade gardens are our favourite, made up of mostly native plants including Triliums, Hepatica, Adder's Tongue, Jack-in-the-pulpit, Ginger, Bloodroot and many varieties of Ferns. Having a small yard we had to choose wisely when it came to trees. We added a Pagoda Dogwood and Kentucky Coffee Tree to the few that have been on the property forever. We also planted a Palm tree 2 years ago and although small (4 ft) it is doing well. I enclose it in an insulted box for the winter, heated by a 60 watt lightbulb. <br />
